Julie Christie, a British actress, began her career in 1957 but her breakthrough performance was in the 1963 film Billy Liar. She has worked both in film and theatre and was recognized internationally in the drama film Darling, for which she won the BAFTA Award for Best British Actress in a Leading Role. In recent years, Christie gradually stepped away from the limelight to a slight degree. Her last known film was in 2018.
